Camp Ridley brings children together with educational activities centered on the coastal environment

CLEARWATER BEACH, FL (March 11, 2008) – Sandpearl Resort (www.sandpearl.com) is delighted to offer Camp Ridley, an exclusive children’s activity program designed specifically for guests aged 5 to 10. Camp Ridley allows parents to indulge in the amenities of Sandpearl while their children engage in a variety of activities teaching them to enjoy and appreciate the coastal environment. Under the supervision of trained camp counselors, a different theme is featured daily and every child is sure to leave happy and with new friends.

The activities at Camp Ridley are designed to bring education and fun together while children enjoy the beach and its bounty. Many of the activities take place outdoors, however Camp Ridley’s headquarters features a large underwater murals and a canopy overhead to create an inspiring underwater environment. Morning activities include nature walks, crafts, dress up parties, cooking classes, science experiments, and creating musical instruments. Flying kites, treasure hunts, puppet shows, and sandcastle building are some of the activities offered in the afternoon. Beach walks and snacks, as well as lunch (optional for those enrolled for a half day) are featured daily.

Sandpearl’s commitment to the environment is apparent with its many ‘green’ practices resort-wide. Incorporating this same mission into Camp Ridley’s curriculum was paramount. For example, while on beach walks and sea discoveries, children collect seashells and other natural items then learn about each with the guidance of the resort’s naturalist.

Parents can enroll their children for either a full or a half-day upon check in or at the Activities Desk. A full day with lunch (9am to 4pm) is $90, while a half-day with lunch (9am to 1pm, or 12pm to 4pm) is $50. A half-day without lunch (9am to 12pm, or 1pm to 4pm) is $40.

Sandpearl also offers a “Family Ties” package that includes accommodations in a one-bedroom condominium suite, a $200 food & beverage credit good towards any of three restaurants, and a $100 recreation credit that can be used toward any of the resort’s enrichment programs or Camp Ridley. A minimum three-night stay is required, and rates start at $389 per night plus tax.
